Spott3D is a single-player stealth-puzzle game for iPhone, played in landscape. If something is broken, wrong, or simply baffling, start here — and there is a person at the end of it.
How do I reach a person?
Email jesse@jlte.ch. Please include your device model, your iOS version, and the name of the level you were on.
If a round ended in a way you did not expect, the word on the results panel — ESCAP3D, SPOTT3D, TIM3D OUT or DROPP3D — is genuinely useful information.
I can’t turn the minimap off in the middle of a round
The in-play toggle is a keyboard key with no on-screen equivalent, so on a phone there is nothing to tap. You can turn the minimap on or off in Settings, under Play, before you start.
The game runs rough
Settings, under Display, has the two dials that matter. Set Shadow quality to Hard and turn Anti-aliasing off. Those are the inexpensive settings and they exist for exactly this.
Where is my progress kept, and can I lose it?
Everything is kept on your device: level progress, best times, stars, your settings, your dumpling and your chosen world. There is no account, no cloud save and no sync, which also means there is no backup. If you delete the app, the save goes with it and it cannot be recovered.
A save that cannot be read is never deleted. It falls back to defaults one field at a time, so a damaged file costs you settings rather than progress.
What do the two reset buttons actually do?
Restore default settings puts the 12 settings back and touches nothing else. Your progress, your dumpling’s face and your chosen world are left exactly as they were.
Erase all progress asks twice, then clears completions, best times, attempts and stars. It leaves your settings alone — but it does cost you unlocks. Looks and worlds are priced in stars and checked every time they are read, so erasing progress re-locks anything you earned and puts your dumpling and your world back to the free defaults. Every slot keeps its default and at least one free alternative, so you are never left with a rack of padlocks, but the hard hat will be gone.
How do levels unlock?
In order: clear one to open the next, through all 13. Every level has a target time you can miss for free and a hard limit that ends the round, and the limit counts down on screen whether or not you have the stopwatch switched on.
HOW TO PLAY, from the main menu, explains the verbs.
What are the accessibility options?
- Settings, under Play: a colour-blind palette for guard vision cones, and a reduced-motion option.
- Settings, under Controls: the on-screen layout mirrors for left-handed play, with sliders for stick size and control opacity.
If something is still unreadable or out of reach, email and say so. That is the kind of report worth sending.
